Retention Policies in Fathom

Edited

Setting a Retention Policy allows organizations to automatically delete recordings in Fathom after a configured period of time, helping teams manage data privacy and comply with internal policies.

This feature is available only for users of the Enterprise Plan.

🕒 What Is a Retention Period?

A retention period is the amount of time recordings are kept before they are automatically deleted from Fathom.

Once a retention rule is active, any recording older than the set period will be permanently deleted.

🛠️ Where do I Set Retention Rules?

Setting a retention policy for all users on your account isn't self-serve yet. To request one, contact help@fathom.video.

🧭 What if I'm not on the Enterprise Plan?

If you want to use retention settings but aren't sure of your current plan:

  • If you're already one of our Teams plans, email help@fathom.video. We’ll route your request to our Customer Success team to help explore upgrading.

  • If you're not yet on a Teams plan, reach out to support@fathom.video or your Fathom Sales representative.

They can help get you set up with the right plan for your team.

❓FAQs

Can I apply different retention rules for internal vs. external meetings?
No — we only support a single policy per team. All calls are treated the same once a rule is applied.

Can I request a custom retention period?
Yes! If you’d like a time frame that isn’t listed in the UI (e.g., 18 months), reach out to help@fathom.video. Custom durations are subject to engineering approval.
