Using Fathom with Google Meet

Edited

Fathom looks for any meetings on your calendar with a Google Meet link in the location field and adds those to your Fathom desktop app drawer.

You can see the list of your meetings for the day in your Fathom desktop app drawer.

Troubleshooting

If you don’t see the green “Start Recording” button or the Fathom drawer when your Meet starts, run through this quick checklist:

  1. Confirm the Chrome extension is installed and enabled

    1. Open chrome://extensions and search for “Fathom”.

    2. Make sure it’s toggled ON. Fathom also needs “Allow this extension to read and change site data on meet.google.com”. Click the puzzle-piece icon ▸ Fathom ▸ “Site access” to confirm.

    3. If you don’t see it, reinstall from Settings ▸ Fathom Apps ▸ Chrome Extension.

  2. Verify the calendar event

    1. Check that the meeting is scheduled in the Primary Calendar (Multiple calendars not supported)

    2. The Meet link must be in the LOCATION field of the calendar invite (not just the description).

  3. Use “Add to Meeting” as a backup

    1. Click the Add to Meeting icon in the desktop drawer, paste the Google Meet URL, and press Enter. Fathom will join instantly, even if the call wasn’t on your calendar.

  4. Still stuck?

    1. Quit and reopen the Fathom desktop app, then re-join the Meet.

    2. Ensure you’re on macOS/Windows (Chromebooks & Linux aren’t supported).
