Using the Fathom Name Picker

Edited

If the Fathom user (you) is not the host of the Zoom meeting, Fathom must decide which participant is our user.

Fathom will check the meeting participant names to see if they match any user accounts that we are aware of. If we cannot find a participant whose name matches one of the aliases for our user, we present the name picker.

The name picker will display a list of names to choose from, and you can select your own name.

If a valid Fathom user is not selected, the meeting will not be recorded.

When will I not see the Name Picker?

In many meetings, you won’t be prompted to pick your name at all - that’s expected! The Name Picker only appears when Fathom can’t confidently match you to a
participant in the call. You will not see the picker if:

  • You are the host of the meeting – Fathom automatically assumes the host is the Fathom user and skips the prompt.

  • Your Zoom display name (or any of your saved aliases) exactly matches the name on your Fathom account.
