Merging Your Fathom Companies (Domain Merge)

Edited

You can combine two or more Fathom companies into one primary company through a domain merge. A domain merge brings the users and data from multiple domains under one primary company, and any additional domains you request can be added as aliases of that primary company.

After the merge, the merged company name in Fathom changes to the primary company's domain. Your actual email addresses do not change.

Eligibility: Domain merges are available on Team and Business plans.

Key terms

  • Primary company: the single company that everything is consolidated into.

  • Merged company: a company being folded into the primary company.

  • Alias domain: an additional domain added to the primary company so its users are recognized under one account.

When do you need a domain merge?

A domain merge may be right for you if:

  • Your organization has multiple Fathom companies that should be consolidated into one.

  • You want users and data across multiple domains managed under a single primary company.

What changes when you merge companies?

Important: Domain merges have significant account and data implications that aren't easily reversible. Because of this, we need written confirmation before making any changes.

Here's what happens to each part of your account when companies are merged:

Users and data

  • Users from the merged company will be associated with the primary company.

  • Existing user data will move under the primary company.

  • Users will not automatically join a paid team unless that's part of the requested setup.

Integrations

  • Existing CRM connections on the merged company are removed.

  • If multiple companies use SSO, only the primary company's identity provider will remain.

Billing

  • Billing will consolidate under the primary company.

  • Any active team subscription on the merged company must be deactivated before the merge can be completed.

How do you verify domain ownership?

To verify ownership of your domain, add the following TXT record to every domain (primary domain and all domains merging in):

  • Type: TXT

  • Name/Host: @ or your domain root

  • Value: Fathom_DomainChange

The TXT records must be in place before Fathom can proceed with the merge.

What information do you need to send us?

To move forward with a domain merge, please send us:

  • The primary company domain

  • The domain(s) you want added as aliases

  • Confirmation that you understand and agree to the changes listed above

  • Confirmation that any active subscription on the merged company can be deactivated (if applicable)

What happens after you request a merge?

Once we receive your confirmation, our team will review the requested end state and coordinate the merge. We'll let you know once the work is complete, or if we need any additional details before proceeding.
